Magic Show - 25/06/21 - Vas Kovalski

Last week on Friday the 25th of June we had Vas Kovalski come to Pt England School to host and perform a Magic Show. He performed a lot of Magic Tricks, that includes helping us balance our diet.

Normally in Magic Shows the audience would normally do wow and omg moments only but this magic show was about.. Balancing your diet.

I know your probably wondering who cares about having a diet. Well maybe you should start thinking about what could happen to your body. Having a diet will help you keep yourself active and if you keep focusing on lollies, chocolate, big bags of chips, junk food every night, things could possibly happen to your body.

He pulled out food  from his magic box some and placed the food where it belonged on the different plates. For example he pulled out a carrot or corn so than he’ll place it on the vegetable plate category.

The great magician Vas Kovalski did many different magic tricks such as ‘The Bird’ that magic trick captured the audiences attention. He pulled the paper towel and a bird just came out flying.

He asked someone to volunteer themself to help him perform the trick, Lee volunteered. He had a cup in his hand and asked Lee to bend his right arm and his left arm going up and down. As Lee kept following those instructions by bending his arm, water started coming out of his left elbow and approaching into the cup.

My own advice for you to work on a balanced diet is: To work on your carbs, protein, fat, fibre, vitamins, and water. You should eat all your carbs not just the ones you like. Eating these types of foods to keep your body motivated and active will prevent you from diseases and infections. It’s those little foods that can matter can change someones life. The food you waste like the vegetables could change someones life, It’s not if you like it all or not you should eat the food that you've been provided with.

Vas Kovalski also did another magic trick which was about the rubix cube and the box. Vas than put the Rubix in the box and started shivering the box side to side he than opened the one side of the box and there was no rubix cube. We we’re all a bit confused on where the rubix cube went. As he was doing the magic trick he pulled it out of another box and we got confused how the rubix was in that box but wasn’t in the other box that it was in.

Vas Kovalski than asked another person from the audience to volunteer to come up to perform a magic trick with him. Emeline from Team 5 got chosen. Vas gave her an apron and a chef hat and a magic cloth. The Magic cloth could change colours. But Emeline’s cloth was only changing to blue, red and white. Vas cloth was changing to different colours like Grey, purple and teal, although on the other hand, Emeline was really confused about the cloths, It wasn’t her being confused making the trick funny it was her facial expressions making it more funny. Although the magic trick was amusing.

KPMG Trip, 23/6/21

On Wednesday, the extension group and a few chosen students got to go to KPMG. Which is a business that does tax, advisory and finance.

When we arrived to KPMG, we went to explore around the first floor. Once we we’re done exploring we went into the infinity room. The infinity room is where everyone meets up at and where our experiments take place.

This year our focus was on experiments and science and space. We had to get into groups and that’ll be the team we will be staying with for the rest of the day. My buddies were, Norah Jade, Jane, Oalii, Nina, Sauma, Zoe including me. I was in Team Earth.

Each team had their own experiment and my one was really challenging that our tutors can’t help us and they could only give us three hints. We had to make oobleck.

We did a quiz in our groups in the infinity room. Most questions were challenging at about space. One of the questions were ‘How many water is in your body?’ and I thought it was 27.5% and apparently it was 80%.

We had to create oobleck with the following ingredients, cornflour, water & food colouring. My team oobleck was a solid and mine wasn’t quiet there, I just needed to add cornflour but than I was adding more water. Till the end mine went to the a solid. We could touch our solids and once you lay it on your hand, It’ll melt immediately.

The food we had at KPMG was deliciously amazing. They had a huge variety of food, from spring rolls, mini burgers, etc. The food was 50% of my highlight. Another one of my highlights were hanging out with my friends and seeing them challenge themselves and succeed.

I would like to thank the KPMG staff for being able make this happen, if it wasn’t for you we wouldn’t of had this opportunity. A huge thanks to Justine who took charge and set all this whole KPMG programme.

Task Description:

The highlight of the day was to have fun not to be there for the food.

Free Writing: Prefect Opportunities

Title: Being a Prefect is a Huge Opportunity

Intro: I’ll be talking about my qualities in b eing a prefect.

Kia Ora Readers,

At Point England School we have 3 different types of leader roles in students related. There are Prefects, House Captains and Rangatahi. I am going to talk about the prefect role that I had the chance to be apart of for Point England in 2021.

Having the prefect role is a huge responsibility and a huge opportunity for you to have. To get the Prefects role, it’s not to be smart or being intelligent. To get the prefect position and role you need to have a application. What I mean by application is you need to write some detailed information and sentences about yourself  and send it to the school principal Mr Burt.

Once he reads your application he’ll respond to you and say something like excellent! Amazing! Good Job! That’s a sign he’s proud of what you wrote down. A few days later, he’ll bring twp separate groups the boys group and the girls group. The boys & girls are not random people put into a group, the people are the applicants.  Once you’re in his meeting he’ll tell you some questions about being a prefect, like how could you make the school a better place ? He than will announce you at the school prize giving.

The Prize Giving is a very special event in schools. It’s a result for your year. Mr Burt will call out the girls and boys prefect team. When I heard my name was called out, I was in dis belief. I was so excited that i was going to take charge of the school with the other prefect team. The Prefects have to do a korero for the school. They have to make presentations, movies & slideshows before every friday. Every friday in this whole year (not all but most) the prefects have to come up with a korero for the school. Something reasonable some responsible and something that people will actually listen to.

Conclusion:

Being a prefect is not to only be good at school, It’s also to be good at home.

To be a prefect It’s not only to be smart and to be intelligent, It’s to be responsible and to set good examples for the school.

10. 4.789 + 1.678 = 6.467

-------------

This is a math based task. We learnt about Decimals & Fractions. We had to change some questions into fractions and decimals. The top addition question were really easy. Some questions were challenging but me and my group went through the questions and worked them out.

Why does Matter, Matter ?

 Why does Matter matter ?

The three basic properties of matter are Volume, Mass and Shape.

All matter is made up of tiny particles called Atoms

Volume is the amount of Space that matter takes up

Mass is the amount of matter an object has

Liquids take the shape of their container.

Gases do not have a definite shape or volume.

Liquids do not have a definite shape, but they do have a definite volume.

Solids have a definite shape and volume.

A ice and a chair are examples of solids.

Water and Milk are examples of liquids.

Oxygen and Helium are examples of gas.

Solid ice is melting when It is changing into a liquid.

-----------------

This is the task my class Room 4 did this morning. We had to answer these questions based about Matter. A fact that I learnt during this task is, three states of matter are liquid, solid and gas. The three basic properties of matter is Volume, Mass and Shape.

I wrote down with my buddy Leah some reasons why speeches are hard for some people. We also did a hamburger, if you don't know what a hamburger in writing is, it's to give a introduction, conclusion and information report.

You should watch Kid President on Youtube. This kid is a life-changer. He wants to help others change their lives and spread the awareness of changing the world for others.

Election of Samoa

Task Description: I am talking about the Samoan Election in 2021. It has been very tough in Samoa. Tuilaepa is not the prime minister anymore. In the election, Fiame and Tuilaepa fought. Fiame is now the new prime minister. Although that Tuilaepa has been the prime minister for 22 years and 196 days, but Fiame has been the prime minister for 14 days. On June 1st 2021 this day is marked as the 59th anniversary of the independence day of Samoa.

Not only did Fiame win the election but Tuilaepa isn't accepting his loss in defeat. The people of Samoa aren't opening the doors for the new prime minister Fiame Naomi mata'afa.
